NOVEMBER 10

Charleston, YALLfest, at Blue Bicycle Books & The American Theatre, King Street, Charleston, SC http://yallfest.org/

… And I believe that is all. For THIS YEAR. So, you know, if anyone would like to come to any of these that would be awesome, and if anyone would like books from any of these bookshops, call the bookshops and I promise to sign the books, writing strange messages or drawing strange pictures on request. ;)

I mean, if they’re my books. I won’t draw strange pictures in Nora Roberts books.

… I mean, I WOULD, but I doubt the bookshops would let me.

It's a fantastic place. Ooh, you'll even be at Book People downtown. Very cool!

I'm very jealous that you'll be in my hometown and I won't be there. I'm sure you'll love it, be sure to stop by Garrison's or Maxwell's Plumb (on the Halifax side) if you have a chance. But Canada is most definitely not America!

You'll be back in Portland, and at my favorite bookstore. OMGYAY! I will definitely be there, with several books for you to sign! *happy happy joy joy*

I hope you have a wonderful tour, and that Unspoken is selling like mad. C:

I am in the process of trying to coordinate an envoy a friend to attend your Beaverton appearance so she can get a book signed for me. :D Next best thing, I suppose, to getting to do the honors myself--will just have to keep my fingers crossed that someday, eventually, you'll find yourself doing a reading in the wilds of upstate New York. ;)

Let's hope I get a new job and more money soon so I can make it to YALLFest. I was so sad I couldn't go last year. It's a 7 hour drive, but it'll be worth it. :)

Ooh - you'll be in Halifax! If you get ANY time at all in the province, try to get down to Peggy's Cove. It's gorgeous and not a bad drive from Hfx. My folks live just north of the city along the eastern shore. It is beautiful there - ENJOY!

I am so sorry I can't attend your Philly reading! I have choir rehearsal that night, and since there are only 6 total, I can't skip out. I'll send good wishes, though.

I send good wishes too--am bummed, because my own prior commitment is around the corner from the REAL Philadelphia Barnes & Noble (the one on Rittenhouse Square in Center City). (Fairless Hills =/= Philadelphia if you actually live IN Philadelphia! ;-) )

I mean...It's more like an SUV. But the conversation kind of went like this:

Me: Hey, Friend, remember how we were gonna go see Libba Bray at the Brookline Library and you were going to use your car for that?

Friend: No, I was gonna use my horse....

Me: Right, okay, so, instead we're going to pile people in and take ALL THE BOOK, and go up to Burlington, okay, cool, great!

I can't tell you how crazy excited I am that you're coming to Dartmouth!! Your first Canadian signing, and my first signing on home turf =D If you do get some time to enjoy Halifax/Dartmouth, I second the recommendation for Maxwell's Plum, but the restaurant Your Father's Moustache is also excellent.

OMG How did I not know YALLfest existed???? This is a thing of beauty. I have cousins in Charleston who I can probably stay with for free. And YOU WILL BE SOMEWHERE WITHIN DRIVING DISTANCE OF ME. THIS IS TRULY AN ALL CAPS OCCASSION.

Awesome! Not only will you be coming to my neck of the woods, you'll be at the branch that's only 15 minutes from my front door!! I'm sure you'll love how they show off your gorgeous book at Powell's! It's less weird out here than in Portland, but I hope you have a good time anyway - I'm sure I will! :)

Last night at Oxford Valley was fun! I feel a little stalkerish telling you I saw you, but hey, you did invite us! ;D

Unfortunately, I didn't think ahead enough to bring my hardback of The Demon's Lexicon for you to sign, so I didn't talk to you in person. I will definitely be buying Unspoken, but in eBook version, which is harder to sign. Oh well, next time!

Oh my gosh! When is the second book coming out? I'm only halfway through Unspoken, but it is sheer bliss, and I'm already dreading the wait for the second one. I knew I should wait until Friday to buy it so I wouldn't lose sleep with it during the week, but my willpower failed me last night.

SO GOOD! You rock.

I finished it! It was so much fun. And ouch! That ending smarts! I guess it can't be all lollipops and roses if we're going to have a trilogy. :) But I wish to tell Kami not to let her hurt feelings get in the way of thinking about Jared things now! Trust herself! You can pass that message along, right? ;)

PS. Hope you had a great birthday!

Jared's probably the one who should be thinking more. ;) I am super glad you had fun with it and I did have a lovely birthday!

You are right! But in my experience, there's not much point telling boys anything -- they will do the opposite. ;)

I feel I need to warn you... a certain fan in the Portland, Oregon area has been threatening to kidnap you and lock you in a basement until you finish the sequel(s?) to Unspoken. It's totally me. Watch your back at the Beaverton appearance!

I just painstakingly crafted a beautiful and insightful comment and LJ beautifully and painstakingly erased it. I may or may not have burst into tears ...

Anyway, two things ...

1. I just finished "Unspoken" this morning, on my front porch in Boston, on a chilly overcast day whilst eating homemade biscuits and latte (I mean, I was drinking the latte, it wasn't crunchy or anything). I hadn't imagined that you could impress me more than you did with "Demon's Surrender" (one of my favorite books of all time from one of my favorite series of all time!), but you did! I was instantly taken with the characters - Angela cracked me up, Ash made me instantly suspicious (nice boys do that), and Jared made me ... well, swoon. As usual, you kept me guessing right up until the end. I did kind of see the Angela/Holly thing coming, though in a good, dramatic irony way. They may be my favorite couple, in fact. I also had a horrible feeling toward the end about Jared and Kami and although I was possibly heartbroken, it was one of those things where I felt like it was right, even though I hated it.

Oh, and my absolute favorites were the Glass family. I may, in fact, be in love with Mr. Jon ....

Thank you so so much for making the week of my birthday a thrilling one by releasing a book during it. It sounds like the next one is coming out the same time in 2013?? I may have a Sarah Rees Brennan-themed party to celebrate .... I will probably dress up as Jamie.

2. I'm not sure you'll remember this but when you were in Burlington, MA at the Barnes and Noble doing the event Sept. 21st, there were two girls in your signing line who got books signed for their friend Tess, who couldn't be at the event. They didn't know it at the time, but their friends named Tess were actually the same person - me! Ironically, these two friends have still not actually met each other (possibly they will at Thanksgiving) but anyway, I was tickled to bits when they both, separately, told me that "the weirdest thing happened in the Sarah Rees Brennan signing line, Tess ..." Thanks so much for the lovely inscriptions - yes, Chelsey is an amazing friend and, yes, I am being a good room mate to Amy ^_^

A final thank you for filling my shelves (and the shelves of kids, teachers, and parents I work with) with absolutely amazing books. As usual, I can't wait for more (although I may attempt to acquire ARCs from Random House reps by applying shameless bribes because I am impatient ^_^)!
