Cover Copy for The Demon's Covenant

Here is the UK cover copy for The Demon's Covenant, which I think I have put up in comments before but which I thought people might like to see!

Mae’s life has spun out of control.

She’s just learned that her brother Jamie is a magician and Nick, the boy she’d set her heart on, has an even darker secret.

Jamie has been meeting with the new leader of the Obsidian Circle, who is hell-bent on persuading
Jamie to join the magicians. When Mae calls on Nick and Alan to save her brother, the Circle sets in motion a plot to bring Nick down – by convincing his own brother to spring a deadly trap.

With brother set against brother and everyone’s loyalties divided, Mae sees a chance to save them
all – but it means approaching the mysterious and dangerous Goblin Market alone . . .

Here is the US copy, which is brand spankin' new! It is also longer, both because the US version is a hardcover so the copy tends to be longer, and because the US cover features Sin, so I asked them to add a bit about the Goblin Market.

Mae always thought she was in control, but in the past few weeks control has turned into chaos. She’s learned that her brother Jamie has magical powers and that Gerald, the new leader of the Obsidian Circle, is trying to persuade Jamie to join the magicians. The same magicians who tried to kill Mae and Jamie last month in London. The magicians who get their power by feeding people to demons.

Mae turns to brothers Nick and Alan to help her rescue Jamie, but they are in danger themselves. Every magician in England now knows what Nick really is—and they all want him dead.

Nick’s new power has also caused a rift between the brothers. In the weeks they were gone something terrible happened, something that haunts them both. With Nick as unreadable as ever and Alan making secret bargains with a demon, Mae finds herself attracted to both brothers—though she knows she can’t trust either of them. The magicians are closing in on one side and the dangerous, seductive Goblin Market is tempting her on the other, and Mae has to form her own plan to save them all. She's going to find that the price she must pay is more than she ever imagined.

The covenant is binding. There is no escape.

Hope you enjoy and find both intriiiguing.

Oh, that's intriguing all right. Go Mae! And Go Alan and Nick (in a worried way).

Worry is encouraged!

Very intriguing! And I already feel sorry for Mae.

Those boys constantly make her life difficult.

Congrats on being popular with the Librarians. Lexicon was a hit here.

Eeee! ^_^ The US one is awesome! (As is the UK one, but I've read that somewhere before, whereas the US one is new and shiny! ^_^) I think my favourite bit is in the US one, with the "dangerous, seductive Goblin Market" tempting Mae... but that may be because I am a fan of Mae/Sin ^_^ (Well, I'm a fan of pretty much anything other than Nick/Alan, but Mae/Sin is a current favourite :P)

Oh no. Nick vs. Alan? I feel my heart breaking already. (Very intriguing, though!) :D

I'm DYING I tell you, DYING over here! WHEN is it going to be May? Can't. Freakin'. Wait.

Oooh, exciting stuff! Can't wait!

Has the US cover been released, I'm sure I've only seen the UK version...?

No, it and the Lexicon paperback are still in development. I think we have the Lexicon cover final at this point: I have been awaiting the Covenant final for a week now, but I am aware of who will be in it and such things...

ARC contest upcoming!

This is so amazing! I cannot wait for this book to come out. All the teasers and side stories only make me more impatient. Alan vs. Nick: I am so excited about this -- in a sad, horrified way, of course, but you write such intense relationships and conflict and this is going to be brilliant. And I'm excited for Mae getting a chance to go off and do things!

but you write such intense relationships and conflict and this is going to be brilliant
Word. It's going to kill us in the best sort of delicious way. I'm already writhing in anticipation.

a rift between the brothers...

Oh, that is going to hurt so much. Thinking about it, I suppose conflict was inevitable. I'm so excited about Mae's perspective, though.

Are there pictures in this post? I can't see anything! :(

Pretty sure it's just the blurbs?

Ooh so exciting! Is the UK cover copy the same as the one which was in the back of The Demon's Lexicon? I would check but haven't got a copy on me at the moment!

I love and adore the UK cover but am slightly jealous of the US with mentions of Sin being there...then again, if book 3 is from her PoV presumably she will have a whole cover to herself, and that will give me the Happy Smilies. :)

So, so excited for this, roll on May and Mae!

If Alan upsets my Nick, I may cry. The "rift between brothers" concerns me...

Eep I can't wait to read it.
Jan. 23rd, 2010 04:03 pm (UTC)
So the way the snippet is worded, I assume Mae is the POV? (I haven't read any of the things you've posted before (don't ask me why) so I don't know if it's come out) So I have to wonder who the POV for the last book is! Is it Alan? That would be awesome.

Also, late congratulations on the ALA! I'm really glad your book got the recognition that I feel at least it deserves.

Book Three will be from the point of view of Cynthia "Sin" Davies, Sultry Dancer of the Goblin Market. She's going to be getting a lot more screen time in Covenant, as the poor thing had only one scene in Lexicon.
