... Wednesday... Links

I realise I usually do my links posts on Friday, but I realised I had quite a few links to post, so today works instead!

An interview with Travis Pearson, in which I distribute spoilers like candy, talk a little about writing Sin's point of view, and my Ill-Fated Archery Research

I didn't actually write this one, but Kelley Armstrong answers a ton of questions about our Smart Chicks tour here.

Speaking of the Smart Chicks tour, I am also on the Smart Chicks blog, holding a Smart Chicks Fiesta - talking about ladies in literature I love, and asking you to talk about ladies in literature you love, for prizes!

Also, The Demon's Lexicon is the feature book in July on Becca Fitzpatrick's fan website, and so I am there giving out a somewhat filthy cookie for the third Demon's Lexicon book, and taking questions on writing and publishing.

Also I am delighted to announce that the anthology Kiss Me Deadly is now out in shops, and as I think seeing different covers is always fun, behold the Australian cover for the anthology!

Clearly, its subtitle is 'Smokin' Hot Angels.' This is probably a better choice than my idea of a cover based on Carrie Ryan's story - an evil nun, cackling, surrounded by zombies - or my own - Peter Pan committing a grisly airborne murder involving Big Ben.

*makes grabby hands at the angel cover*

I have it on the best of authority that my copy of Kiss Me Deadly is sitting in the back room at work. However, because practically all the August releases arrived today, I was one lousy unpacked box away from possessing it. I considered staying back to unpack the boxes myself just so I could have it, but my workmates don't need any additional proof that I'm crazy, so I decided to be civilised and wait until tomorrow.

*beams* I hope you will enjoy it. Carrie Ryan and Diana Peterfreund, among others, are disgusting geniuses.

I already tweeted this, but the cookie makes me really, really excited for Sin's perspective. I love the poetic feel of her voice, and it really showcases how beautiful your writing is.

Also, I am sure Nick and Sin prance off into the sunset leaving all of us fans who tried to predict pairings totally blindsided.

I'm excited for this anthology! It looks to be quite awesome.

Lots of pretty links to cheer me up, which is awesome as I am sick and in much need of cheering up :)

Do you have a link perchance as to where to purchase Kiss me Deadly as I couldn't find it on Amazon, which may be due to a multitude of painkillers.

Also just out of curiosity I have bought Demon's Covenant for myself and friends and am about to purchase another copy for my little sister in law, and I have been using Amazon, do you as an author prefer your readers to buy direct from bookshops or is an online sale the same as a 'live' sale?

This is a tricky question to answer, as I do not wish to tell people how to buy my book - I am thrilled whenever they do, however they do, and also thrilled when they take them out of the library. ;) Live sales are nice, because they mean the bookshop will continue to stock and shelve your book, and order the next ones, which means other people will find it. But all sales are awesome, and really readers should do what they prefer! (Also, buying multiple copies is super awesome of you!)

And I hope you get better soon, you poor petal. And that the links are cheering!

Kiss Me Deadly is on amazon and the book depository (free shipping) http://www.amazon.com/Kiss-Me-Deadly-Tales-Paranormal/dp/0762439491/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1280326653&sr=8-3

Thanks so much for the link :) now have a pretty book to read to cheer me up :D

That is the danger of telling everyone to go read the book, they then want you to share yours and I don't share well so end up getting them one :D

Love the interviews- but I'm intrigued as to how you can be both a giraffe in a forklift and a hippo on speed at the same time. That, my dear, is a talent that I bet EVERY ballerina envies.

(As do I. I'm not nearly half as graceful as a hippo- on speed or not).

The Demon's Tempest would be the coolest freakin' title EVER. Just saying. You know, to put my two cent in there.

heh, your idea of "somewhat filthy" is not congruent with mine. How can they be filthy? They're in the nice clean surf, after all!

I am absolutely hopping up and down waiting for publication, EEEEE!

Well, the Smart Chicks blog is not letting me post a comment (or livejournal is insisting it won't allow OpenID to link to it, or something), so here is what I was trying to post there:

...um, no. Apparently my comment is lost. ANYWAY a character I recently read that, even as I read her, I was thinking fit your definition of Smart Chick Heroine perfectly (going by what you've already written about Awesome Ladies previously, since you hadn't actually written this current post at that time)-- is Penelope in the new middle grade series The Incorrigible Children of Ashton Place. I don't feel like explaining why because I just DID and that all was lost to the ether and I am mad at it, so I hope you are intrigued enough to look into it and get intrigued by other people's descriptions since I'm not offering any good reasons. Maybe if you want me to I'll write the whys again later when I'm not mad at them for disappearing.

I don't have any sort of profile, so I also can't reply to the smart chicks post, so I am posting the reply I wrote for that post here:
My Favourite Smart Chicks:
(1) Elizabeth Bennet (Unoriginally) I always love a woman with a way with words
(2) Maree, from Diana Wynne Jones's "Deep Secret" Fierce! Snarky! Will take no nonsense from smartly-dressed prats!
(3) Raine Benaires, from Lisa Shearin's Raine Beniares series. She has red hair, but I quickly came to love her despite this addition to the many redheaded heroines. She is clever, very loyal, and magically bonded to a soul-sucking rock. I also love her relationship with Piaras, who she thinks of as a younger brother and is very protective of. Also love her cousin, who is a pirate. A funny pirate
(4) Chloe & Tori from Kelley Armstrong's Darkest Powers series. I love them both but I love Tori best - I think her grumpiness contrasts with Chloe's sweetness very well.
(5) Rae from Robin McKinley's Sunshine - I love the way she is so involved with her baking.. while fighting vampires
(6) Harry from Robin McKinley's The Blue Sword. I love that she is called Angharad but insists on being called Harry, and how determined she is to follow her instincts even when almost everyone is against her.
(7) Mae! 'Nuff said.
(8) I also love Kate Sutton! I love how practical Kate is. E.g. : CHRISTOPHER: I have, with dramatic gloom, told of how I let my neice fall into a well! I have also mentioned that someone taked of a chasm under the well. KATE: How did he know there was a chasm under the well?
CHRISTOPHER:... That's all you're going to say?!
Also much love for Attolia, Eddis and Sophie
It's also clear I must check out the Kate Daniels series & Guardian of the Dead - they sound great!

I so wish I had money for the anthology at the moment! But I need all the spare money I have for my adventures in August so the anthology will have to wait. The cover is PRETTY though.

Read it. Re-read it. Moments of glee and moments of deep uneasiness. I loved Ashley, HRM rocked, and I was fascinated by your take on what a child who willfully remained a child would be like after centuries. He changes but he does not change. Charming, exasperating, terrifying.

Now I should probably read the rest of the stories after yours...

*beams* Thanks so much for reading, and for your thoughts! My mother is going to be displeased I have so slandered the Queen. ;)

Totally no connection to your post, but I just have to admit that I may have made a small scene when I saw The Demon's Covenant in my bookstore. Never has seeing a book in stock made me bounce up and down with matching seal claps and dolphin squeaks. Mind you, I don't think The Demon's Lexicon has reached us yet (or maybe I need to visit the bigger bookstores), which is kind of strange, but. *shrugs*

I'm just happy it's arrived here in the Philippines already!

I just got my hardcover of Covenant yesterday, and I loooove my Sin cover. LOVE.

Is The Demon's Talisman out as an option for book three? I adored that working title.

I am so glad!

Yes, I fear it is out, though I suppose you never know for sure...

After reading your blog for this little while (I dunno how I got here, but it's all good) I finally (finally!!!) bought your first book. And read it in a single sitting. I am now officially thrilled to have a new author who writes well. As in, good plotting, excellent dialogue, fresh ideas, and effective description, also while keeping the story moving.
Thank you very much.
